Boatyard

Boatyard help

Map your yard into spaces, schedule tide-aware lifts without clashing the crane, and always know where every boat is.

Getting started

Create your yard

  1. Sign in. The first time, enter a Yard name and click Create.
  2. Click Add space and set its Zone, Code, and Type (hardstanding, dinghy rack, mast rack, trailer bay, or tent). Save it.
  3. Repeat until your yard is mapped. Each space is now ready to take a boat.

Most yards are up and running in an afternoon: map the spaces once, then haul out, assign, and you are away.

The yard map

Reading the map

The map is a grid of space tiles, each showing its zone and code, its type, and what is on it. Occupied spaces show the boat name, with colours for reserved and blocked spaces and a plain tile for empty ones.

Finding a boat

Type into the Find a boat by name box at the top. Matching spaces highlight and the rest fade, so you can spot a boat at a glance.

Lifts & launches

Booking a lift

  1. Click Lifts to open the schedule.
  2. Enter the Boat, choose the Direction (haul-out or launch), pick the Slot, and name the Crane / hoist.
  3. Add the tide for a launch in Tide / notes, for example "HW 13:40, 1.2m", then click Book slot.

No double-booked crane

If a crane is already booked within the hour, you get a clear clash warning. You can still confirm if you mean to. If a boat has a critical repair still open in Workshop, a launch is flagged so nothing slips out before it is ready.

Boats & movements

Hauling a boat onto a space

  1. Click an empty space to open it.
  2. Enter the Boat name and Owner, set From to "Water (haul-out)", and click Assign + log.

Launching or moving a boat

  1. Click the occupied space and find Move out.
  2. Choose the Destination (launch to water, or another space), add an optional reason, and click Record movement.

The movement log

Every haul-out, launch, and move is written to the Movement log on the right, an append-only history so you can always say where a boat was and when.

Assets & storage dues

Tracking cradles and trailers

Click Assets to record cradles, trailers, stands, and mast racks by reference, and link an asset to the boat sitting on it.

Invoicing storage

  1. Click an occupied space and find the storage section.
  2. Choose the Season / term, enter the Amount and the owner's email.
  3. Click Invoice dues. The invoice is raised through the FleetFixer Ledger and the space records the last invoice number.

FAQ

How do I stop the crane being double-booked?

The scheduler automatically warns you if a crane already has a lift within the hour. You can override the warning if you intend to.

Can I launch a boat that still has an open repair?

If Workshop is linked and a critical job is still open, the launch is flagged. You can override, but it is there as a safety check.

How do I record a move that is not a launch?

When you move a boat out, set the destination to "Another space" and note the reason, so the movement log stays accurate.

How do I find which space a boat is on?

Use the Find a boat by name search. Its space highlights on the map.
